Amritsari Fish

Amritsari fish, is dried fish serving as a great appetizer or side dish complementing the main course. Fish is prepared with lot of spices and seasonings to make it mouth watering. This fish was originated in Punjab that's why mainly known as Amritsari Fish. Originally it was sold in streets of Amritsar. Make Amritsari fish of your own with SurfIndia recipes section. Ingredients Amritsari Fish

  • 1 kg: Fish (cut into medium sized chunks)

  • Oil for frying

To Marinade

  • 75 ml: Lemon juice

  • 1 tsp: Grated ginger

  • 1 tsp: Black pepper

  • 1 tsp: Salt

Batter

  • 100 gm: Besan

  • 1 tsp: Ginger paste

  • 2 tsp: Garlic paste

  • 2 tsp: Ajwain

  • 1 tsp: Chilli powder

  • 4 : red chillies (snipped)

  • 1 tsp: Baking powder

  • 100 ml: Iced water

  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Combine all the marinade ingredients. Pour over the fish and set aside for 30 minutes.

  2. Remove the fish from the marinade and pat dry.

  3. Combine all ingredients for the batter. Coat the fish in the batter and set aside for 15 minutes.

  4. Fry in hot oil until golden brown. Serve hot.
