John Abraham, who is busy promoting his film Jhootha Hi Sahi by appearing on various TV shows, created a controversy of sorts. He appeared in Zee TV’s musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar a few weeks ago, and it was then that the controversy occurred. It so happened that John, had appeared on the show and was so floored by the performance of a singer named Sugandha Mishra, that he gave a warm hug to the singer and also planted a kiss on her forehead.
However, according to sources on the sets, this public display of affection by John did not go well with Sugandha’s conservative family . The situation got so serious that Sugandha’s grandfather even threatened the channel to stop the singer from appearing on the show. Says a little birdie from the sets: “ Sugandha’s grandfather was so unhappy that he even called John a ‘ loose person’ and even threatened to stop Sugandha from participating in the show.”
When this news reached John, he apparently mended his ways when he appeared on the show for the second time. In the recent episode, he maintained a clear distance from the contestants, particularly the women. And that was not all, he even decided to apologies on camera for his ‘ over- friendly’ behaviour with Sugandha. “ I sincerely apologies to Sugandha’s grandfather. It was a friendly gesture and it was only a way to show appreciation to a young talent. There was no intention to hurt anyone’s feeling,” he said.
